DR HELEN SHARMAN, BRITAIN’S FIRST COSMONAUT, HAS GONE ON RECORD THAT SHE BELIEVES ALIENS EXIST AND COULD EVEN BE HERE ON EARTH

Dr Helen Patricia Sharman was the first British cosmonaut to visit the Russian, Mir Space Station in May of 1991.

During an interview with the Observer Magazine, Dr Helen Sharman shared her views on aliens, she told the interviewer: “Aliens exist, there’s no two ways about it. There are so many billions of stars out there in the universe that there must be all sorts of different forms of life.”

Now a chemist, working at the Imperial College based in London, Dr Sharman went on to say that we may need to rethink the way we view alien life, she states that extra-terrestrial life forms may not be made up of carbon and nitrogen like humans:

“It’s possible they’re here right now and we simply can’t see them.”

During the interview Dr Sherman expressed her frustration at being referred to as the ‘first British woman in space’ as opposed to the first Briton; she said:

“It’s rather telling that we would otherwise assume it was a man. When Tim Peake went into space, some people simply forgot about me. A man going first would be the norm, so I’m thrilled that I got to upset that order.”

Talking about her time in space, Dr Sherman said that it gave her a new perspective and outlook on life. Dr Sherman said that being in space made her realise that it was people that truly mattered on Earth and not material possessions or goods, she said that being in space where items were limited and they were given everything that they needed to survive made her forget about physical attachments she had to possessions on Earth.

Reflecting on the experience, she described flying over the Earth from space as “no greater beauty”, she said that as they flew over the globe it was always loved ones back on Earth that the astronauts would often think of.

Dr Sherman was recognised in the 2018 New Year’s honours list for her amazing work and dedication to Science.
